Barrel Racing at its Finest!
Whats New:
April 23, 2012
This breeding season Black Star Ranch’s mares have foaled “8” healthy babies by Tres Seis, Dash Ta Fame and of course Black Star Ranch Stallions’ Bayou Fuel, Packin Sixes Jr, and Born Ta Be Famous and we are still awaiting several more. Lots of chrome, big personalities and tons of fun seems to be these foals purpose. Famous Pie’s first crop of babies will hit the ground early 2013. We have 25 confirmed pregnancies so far and our breeding mission is quality not quantity. After partnering with Danny Ray of Victory Farms on our Ivory James Filly last year, it spiked Kris’ interest. We have decided to stick our toes in the Louisiana Quarter Horse Racing Industry. We have a nice group of proven mares that we bred to several Louisiana Racing Stallions. We have staffed the ranch in order to handle all facets of horse training from our breeding program to training and breaking our colts in house. We are excited with the team of people we have employed at Black Star. We would like to welcome back Ellen Guidry back to Team Black Star. She is riding here part-time to help keep our barrel horses legged up, patterned and ready for competition. Jonathan Bourgeois of Raceland has also joined our team assisting JP, our ranch manager with ranch operations, our young colts and the roping division. As usual Talmadge Green will continue to oversee our futurity division. The great part about Talmadge, Kris can rely on his expertise and knowledge making it an area she doesn’t have to worry about. The big joke is….Talmadge finally found one area that he does know more than Kris. His favorite saying is….if he wanted to own an oil well or a tug boat; he would let Kris run it….Touché’ Talmadge ! Our roping division is in full swing. We have acquired several nice finished rope horses such as “Blue” from NFR qualifier Kelly Kaminski. Nica and Ms. Kris are putting the pressure on JP and Jonathan to make sure they could step up to the plate. It will be “BARREL RACERS MEETS ROPERS AT A STAND OFF”. The girls are going to hate showing the guys up…. We will start producing our own Team Roping and Team Sorting events in June. Continue to check the website and Facebook for more information. We choose these events specifically to involve the entire family of horse lovers. Mom, Dad and Kids – something for everybody. The Ranch is still under spring cleaning and many other projects. Neil has been busy clearing out another big tract of land for us to move our broodmares along with support buildings. Our sale barn has been busy. Rather than focusing primarily on barrel horses, we have added a few select horses that can compete in most rodeo events. Our prices are suited for today’s market. We are doing our best to go thru these horses with a fine tooth comb for any flaws, since Ms. Kris knows first- hand how it feels to be burnt by purchasing horses with undisclosed defects, she is determined to NOT pay that forward. And everyone who knows Kris, knows she has bought her share of horses and has a great deal of experience specifically in purchasing. We keep a file on each horse, we can send you pics, videos and other pertinent information. We will not up load these to our website because the horses move in and out to quick. If you would like more information on the sale horses, then email us a description of what you are looking for and we will determine if we have a horse to suit your needs. As usual nothing stands still at Black Star and there is something always brewing. Stay tuned…
